Puglia is the south-eastern edge of the country, on the Adriatic. Our studio is in Trani, at Via Umberto 130, between Barletta and Bisceglie. Bari airport is about forty-five minutes away by car, so most guests land and are at the hotel before dinner. From here we reach the whole region: the cathedrals built on the sea, the masserie inland among the olive groves, the beaches, the small towns on the hills. A masseria, if nobody has explained it yet, is a fortified stone farmhouse, usually with a courtyard, and most of them now host the ceremony, the dinner and the party in the same place.
We have photographed weddings here for thirty years, more than 5,000 of them. None of it needs you to fly over in advance. The plan is built by video call and in writing, and the people who hold the cameras are the ones you spoke to: the studio in Trani is a team of three, not an agency with a roster.
What happens before the wedding day?
Four steps, all of them before you land.
The first video call
You tell us the date, the town, the venue and how you imagine the day. We want to understand what you expect before anyone talks about money. If a trip brings you to Puglia before the wedding, we do the same conversation at the studio in Trani and look at finished work together.
A written quote, item by item
You get a written proposal with the items kept separate: hours of coverage, the second photographer, film and drone if you want them, the album. Each item carries its own price, so you can take one out without renegotiating the rest. A complete wedding sits inside a range we publish: from 1,500 to 3,000 euros.
The date is held by contract
Sending an enquiry books nothing. The date is confirmed when the contract is signed and a deposit is paid. Until then it stays available to everyone, which is the honest answer and the reason to write as soon as the date is certain.
The timeline, built together
Before the wedding we plan the day with you: times, distances, the moments you care about, the people who must not be missing from the photographs. The timeline stays yours. We learn it by heart, so that on the day nobody has to tell us where to look.
What do we need to know about a venue we have never seen?
Four things, and your venue can usually answer all four in one email. Where the ceremony will be held. Which side of the property the sun sets on. What time you plan to sit down for dinner. Whether a drone is allowed, and under what conditions.
Those four answers decide the shape of the day. From May to September the sun here is high and hard until five in the afternoon: the portraits belong in the last two hours before sunset, and the timeline has to be built around them rather than around the buffet. Pale stone is everywhere in Puglia, in the cathedrals and in the masserie walls, and it works like a reflector the size of a courtyard, which is why faces stay lit even with the sun behind them. On the coast there is almost always wind, and it decides how the veil falls, so we choose the side we shoot from accordingly.
The other thing worth knowing early is the driving. Between a church in town and a reception in the country there is often half an hour of road. Those minutes can be lost or used, and we count them when we plan the day with you. If a wedding planner or the venue coordinator is running the logistics, we are glad to work through them.
What about the language your guests do not share with us?
Reportage does not run on instructions. We do not pose you, we do not arrange rows of relatives, we do not stop lunch to rebuild a moment that has already happened. Nothing on the day depends on a sentence being understood across a room of two hundred people. That is not a workaround invented for foreign couples: it is how we have worked for thirty years, and it happens to travel well.
What has to be agreed is agreed in advance, in writing, with you. The timeline, the names of the people who must appear, the family groups if you want any: it is all on one page before the wedding, so on the day we follow the page instead of asking. If you do want a few posed portraits, we build them in a few minutes, without taking the afternoon away from your guests.
There are usually two of us photographing, which also helps. One camera stays with you; the other is where you are not looking, on the faces in the second row. Questions couples abroad ask first
Do we have to come to Italy before the wedding?
No. The first meeting, the quote and the timeline can all be done by video call and in writing, and for couples living abroad that is the normal route. If a venue visit brings you here anyway, tell us and we will meet at Via Umberto 130 in Trani while you are in the area.
How far ahead should we write?
As soon as the date is certain. Some dates fill more than a year in advance, others stay free until a few months before: it depends on the season and on the day of the week, and there is no rule that holds every year. Asking costs one message and takes the question off your list.
Can you hold our date while we decide?
No. Holding a date without a mutual commitment would not be fair to anyone, so until the contract is signed the date stays open to everybody. That is also why it is worth writing early rather than late.
Do you photograph weddings outside Puglia?
Yes. We have no limit of distance and we look at every request. For work far from Puglia, travel, meals and accommodation, and sometimes more than one day of work, affect the quote, and all of it is written down before you decide.
What does a complete wedding cost?
The range we publish is from 1,500 to 3,000 euros for a complete wedding. The written proposal tells you where your day falls inside that range and why, item by item, so you can add or remove things and see the effect.
